Shimmering lightly, a grey, moonlit steeple pointed up into the air like a finger, directing me to heaven. A cracked church window bore the picture of Jesus on the cross. Pieces of abandoned, scrap metal lay scattered around the church. A firefly, it's tail glowing brightly, fluttered out of a rusting pipe, brushing my face gently as it darted away towards the village.
Landing gracefully on a roof top, the firefly sat down on a tile. The smell of homemade food wafted through the air and the clattering of the pots and pans rang out through the night sky. The chit-chattering of the many families were music to my ears. Overgrown gardens nestled behind every house, the many blades of grass resting peacefully.
Taking off, the firefly flew towards a field, in search of a flower. Choosing a sunflower, it touched down upon it. Sunshine yellow petals surrounded the firefly and it's wings rippled slightly as the warm summer breeze whispered it's way down the grassy meadow, bringing with it the hooting of the many owls, perched on top of sturdy and robust trees.
Hovering in the air, the firefly enjoyed the scenery for a moment. Misty, swirling clouds swivelled around, roaming freely on the endless, velvety black duvet that covered the earth, transforming as they went. A cloud drifted past in the shape of a dragon, smoke billowing out of it's nostrils. Then a unicorn shaped cloud galloped off, leaving just a strand of pure white tail hair.
At last, the firefly disappeared into the glow of the moon. The crescent moon was molten-gold, surrounded by an ethereal polar-white glow. It's ray felt comforting, but as the firefly buzzed further into the starry night, the rays vanished, to be replaced by the dark shadow of a shattered disc hanging ominously in the sky.
